Thankfully the city’s airport is as modern and well-developed as people have come to expect from the rest of Dubai. The airport was opened in 1960 and has seen the number of passengers passing through it rise every year as the city it serves grows in popularity with tourists. As recently as 2017, the Dubai International airport handled about 88 million passengers, making it a central hub for much of the world’s flight movements and international passenger flights. In July of 2019, the airport was widely recognized for installing some of the world’s largest solar energy systems. This was done in response to Dubai’s goal to reduce city energy consumption by up to 30 percent by the year 2030.

Once at the airport, you’ll find three terminals with a huge range of shops, food and drink, and other services that will make your time there stress-free and fun. Whether you’re in the airport for a short time or several hours, the staff there will make sure you’re relaxed.

Dubai Airport is the busiest airport in United Arab Emirates with nearly 90 million passengers.

Dubai Airport opened in 1937 and is located 13 km (8 mi) from Dubai downtown.

Dubai Airport is owned and operated by the Dubai Airports Company. This airport serves as a home to two of the largest international airlines in the world, Emirates and flydubai. The Emirates airline is a massive company and accounts for over 50% of all the airline traffic in the Dubai International Airport. Its more affordable counterpart, flydubai, accounts for 13% of all the passengers that come through Dubai International Airport. In total, the airport has the capacity and facilities to serve up to 90 million passengers each year quite easily. There are about 8000 weekly flights that are performed by over 100 airlines to over 250 destinations on all continents.
The Dubai airport is an extremely important factor to the UAE economy and the economy of the city of Dubai specifically. The airport itself employs almost 100,000 people and suports almost 400,000 jobs indirectly through its business. This massive reach means that the DBX airport contributes over $25 billion to the local economy. This accounts for over a quarter of the Dubai GDP and ⅕ of the jobs in dubai. This is only expected to rise as the Dubai International Airport becomes even more commonly used and adds airlines and destinations to its selections as time goes on. The Dubai International Airport is very important to the economic success of Dubai.
