Dubai International Airport has welcomed the opening of a new Jo Malone London retail area, which has seen a steady growth in daily sales since it opened for business on 23 April.
Strategically located in Concourse 2 of Terminal 3, the new retail area was officially inaugurated by the top management of Dubai Duty Free and The Estée Lauder Companies.
The new store is a welcome addition to Dubai Duty Free’s Perfume and Cosmetics category, which currently accounts for 21% (YTD) of the retailer’s turnover, which is expected to reach US$1.64 billion this year.
Commenting on the addition of Jo Malone London, Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman Colm McLoughlin said: “We are very pleased with this new offer and we have received a good deal of positive feedback from our customers. The brand has a strong following worldwide and so far 53% of our customers are existing customers of Jo Malone London. Encouragingly though, 47% of those who purchased Jo Malone London since the opening are new to the brand, which is a very good indicator.”
Attending the shop opening from The Estée Lauder Companies’ head office in New York were President and Chief Executive Officer Fabrizio Freda, Group President Cedric Prouvé, President of Travel Retailing Worldwide Olivier Bottrie, and Vice President/General Manager – Travel Retailing Europe-Middle East-Africa Jean-Charles Seite.
UK-based Seite added: “We are delighted with the successful launch of Jo Malone in Dubai Duty Free where existing clients of the brand will be able to purchase their favorite products, experience new ones and where new consumers will be able to experience the world of Jo Malone London.”
