About Dubai Airport Terminal 1

This massive terminal covers roughly 520,000 square meters (5.6 million square feet) with more than 200 check-in counters available for the more than 100 airlines based here. It was the first terminal opened at the airport and underwent a massive renovation project in 2013. The changes included a modernized baggage system and improved departure hall.

Once you arrive at Terminal 1 and have checked in for your flight, you will take a free shuttle train to get to Concourse D which is home to all the pre-flight shops and services.

  • Terminal 1 levels

This huge terminal has three separate levels; Level 1 is for departures where you’ll find the airline check-in stands including self-serve check-in kiosks, a food court, shops, and more. Free Wifi is available for an hour in case you need to use it before checking in. To access the Wifi simply select “DWC free wifi” or “DXB free wifie” from the list of available connections.

Level 2 is for arrivals and it’s here you’ll go to retrieve your baggage before heading to Dubai to enjoy your holiday. Porters are available to help you with your luggage.

Level 3 is for passenger services and concessions, so if you’re looking for even more places to shop or for other needs, this is where you should go.

After check-in, the train leads you to Concourse D where you’ll find 23 separate boarding gates. It has several lounges operated by individual airlines, as well as food, drink and retail options.

There are a host of services available at Terminal 1 including:

  2. Places to exchange currency
  3. Car rental companies to arrange a vehicle for your vacation
  4. A play area for children
  5. Care rooms for babies
  6. A wide range of food and drink options
  7. A business center with computers, faxes and more for your needs
  8. Religious prayer rooms for Muslims and Christians
  9. Smoking lounges (located by Gate D12)
  10. Baggage storage for a cost of 20 to 25  United Arab Emirates Dirhams every 12 hours
  11. Showers if you need to bathe (located between Gates C18 and C22)

  • Terminal 1 lounges

There are several lounges available at the airport, and you can purchase one-off access to these lounges for some added luxury to prepare you for your outgoing flight. Customers can buy passes in advance at the airport’s website

Marhaba Lounge: Passengers traveling on flights departing from the D gates can use this lounge, which has a wide range of amenities including hot and cold refreshments, showers, a TV room, a children’s play area, free Wifi, and use of an iPad tablet during your visit.

SkyTeam Lounge: This lounge is available to eligible passengers traveling on international flights operated by the following airlines: Aeroflot, Air France, China Eastern, China Southern, Kenya Airways, KLM, Korean Air, MEA and Saudia. It’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and its amenities include: free Wifi, business, center, internet terminals, TV room, food and drink such as snacks and alcoholic beverages, free newspapers and magazines, and showers.

Ahlan Business Class Lounge: Yet another option is this sleek 24-hour lounge serving a wide range of hot and cold buffet food, as well as a bar that serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Other features include a prayer room, showers, and spa treatments.
